Hi
I've been back on a simple Sky package for the past few weeks:
Sky Signature
Ultimate TV Add-on (Netflix?)
(Sky Cinema - we had a 4 week trial of that - unused)
(We also have the phone & broadband in the package)
It was a budget conscious move from freesat back to Sky & I needed to keep the package to around £40.
We dont appear to be able to utilise "catch up" (or whatever it's called) to watch missed programs without upgrading our package to include Sky HD (I dont think Signature is in HD?)
We noticed it after we missed a program on Sky Documentary & also on Sky Witness - in both cases when trying to retrieve them, a little red dot appears asking us to upgrade.
We are offered 2 months free but after that it will be £8 a month.
This seems a bit steep just for watching missed programs.
or
Are we doing something wrong when searching the missed programs ?
Are all missed programs in HD, so you have to upgrade to watch them?
or
Has it nothing to do with HD, am I missing something??
thanks in anticipation of your help

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreIn many, but not all cases there are standard definition variants you can download via CatchUp. I suspect you have HD as the default for downloads in your Sky box settings. Changing it to SD will resolve it.

To change your download preferences, you need to complete this on the main Sky Q box, not a Sky Q mini box:
If your default download format is unavailable, it’ll download in the next available format. For example, If HD is unavailable, the show will download in SD.
Individual shows
You can download an individual show in a different format without changing your default settings. Just select the show you want to download, select All formats and choose from SD, HD or Ultra HD where available.
