Amadeus - Sky Original
Has anyone watched Sky's version of Amadeus with Will Sharpe and Paul Bettany?
What an absolute load of tosh. I bet it cost a fortune but what a total damp squib of a series. The acting from the leads was good but my word, the way it was written, shot, directed and edited was dreadful. Devoid of any emotion or interest.
Even in UHD with HDR it was flat and dull.
Yet another painfully poor Sky (not very) Original drama. AWFUL.
Don't waste your time streaming or downloading this on demand. Unless you're having trouble sleeping. Turgid.

I had already download prior to your post here so gave it a go and ended up giving up halfway through the second episode as it really wasn't very good. For a series called Amadeus the character at times seemed to be a minor character to Paul Bettany's character who was taking up far to much screentime. Not really sure what they were trying to do with this but whatever it was it wasn't working as I have seen some really good Sky Originals but this wasn't one of them.

So glad I'm not the only one who felt this. It really was a wasted opportunity.
I'm all for trying to update and introduce new generations to classic stories, but this was just flat on every level. The acting was good from the two leads but everything else just didn't work. I saw it through to the end but it did not improve at all.
I'm amazed that writer Joe Barton was behind this - he did the excellent Lazarus Project on Sky several years ago (which they foolishly cancelled) and Black Doves on Netflix. I don't know what he was thinking with Amadeus - it had none of his usual flair.
Sky badly need to up their 'Originals' game - they haven't had a hit since Day of the Jackal in my opinion. Hopefully season 2 of that can claw back some credibility.

Re: Amadeus - Sky Original
Same here, thought it was poor.
Did try first episode and a bit of the second, then gave up.
Was not sure what was I expecting at all with this, but it just did not gell well for me.
Did seem it was a poor remake and tried to create the same feel of the Movie, but the series failed.
The Movie was great and not sure it needed something being so similaly created.
Certainly not up to the usual standard of Sky Originals.
