I am looking at leaving sky for a different provider does anyone know if I can take my land-line number  with me or will I have to change the number ?

Possibly. Your new provider should be able to tell you whether or not they can port the number from Sky.

Ofcom say providers should seek to make this possible, but acknowledge that it won't always happen for various technical reasons.
