Telephone issues through broadband

We have been sent a new modem for sky full fibre 100 max but I can't get the telephone to work. I was into sky 2 hours on Thursday they promised to ring me back with a date for an engineer but they havn't. I can't get past  the BOT today so can't speak to a real person. I'm getting more and more angry with sky. They ripped me off over a telephone bill when I was contracted for anytime calls. They've charged me for sky sports even though I never asked for it, they havnt refunded any money even though I've registered my complaint they are basically ignoring me. Now this issue I didn't even ask to be moved onto a new broadband it's costing more money and I can't use it. I asked to be released from my contract because I can't stand it any longer but they say it's £500 to do so. My mobile doesn't work at home if I havnt got broadband band so I can't contact emergency services should I need to.  they are aware of this also. It's just shabby practice on the part of sky.
Any ideas please. I can't go in like this much longer.

Presumably you have it plugged into the appropriate part of the hub. The landline can take 24 hours or so to fully work after activation.

We obviously can't see the bill so you need to challenge this bill with Sky if you're sure it's wrong.

They've charged me for sky sports even though I never asked for it,

Did Sky offer you a free Sky Sports trial, and if so did you cancel,it before being charged? Sky don't randomly add packages.

Once you've made a complaint Sky have up to 8 weeks to resolve it or issue a deadlock letter.

If you try to cancel whilst still in a minimum term deal you might have to pay an early termination charge (Sky will notify you if you do and how much they’ll charge), which they seem to have.
