Sky talk using phone/answerphone/handsfree

I have just joined Sky. All is fine except when I select handsfree on my handset the noise level is intolerable, echo, crackle, ringing tone. BT Decor 2600 answephone plugged into router. Another handset is ok but that is battery driven with no answerphone. I wanted to have an answephone, is that normally possible with Sky router ?. I know I could use Sky answering facility but would prefer to use a physical answephone using handsfree.

I haven't seen problems with using an answerphone with Sky Internet calls reported before, so I would think it,should be ok. As a different handset doesn't have the same problem,, it looks as though it's an issue with the Decor. If the Decor is placed next to the Hub, try moving it further away to see if the noise issue improves. And if the Decor is plugged into a mains socket adjacent to the socket where the Hub is plugged in, try one further away.

Thanks Mark39. It worked ok on BT landline. I will try your suggestions.

To be clear, I'm speculating about a compatibility issue rather than a fault.

Hi Mark39, no change with distance or mains outlet. Just for the record all the noise etc is at the other end of the conversation not on the BT2600. Tried with a variety of calling phones. Yes seems incompatable but only on hands free !.  I give up but thanks for confirming it is worth trying a different answephone.
