Phone not receiving calls

I've transferred back to Sky Talk From Gigaclear, I can make calls but cannot receive calls on our landline. Been told that my number hasn't ported properly away from Gigaclear. It's been a week without receiving calls. This is unacceptable for this problem to go on for such a long time. Not much seems to be going on. Gigaclear say it's not them Sky says it is. I'm between a rock and a hard place. Any suggestions?

@lenjenks

Did you ask to retain the number?

If you did give Sky a call (free on 150). Explain that you requested to keep your number. It may not have been possible for technical reasons, and I understand if you move from certain alternative providers like Now they can't transfer the number.

Otherwise Sky may be able to cancel your service and basically start again, this time porting your number with it. Note that your previous provider will only keep your old number accessible for up to 31 days. Any such action will result in you being without broadband and any landline until it's re-activated.

Talk Talk going Bust

I've been a Sky subscriber for nearly 30 years. Recently changed my broadband back to sky now that they have full fibre optic cabling in my street. Big mistake! It's been 6 weeks without being able to receive calls on my home phone, can make them but can't receive. Sky keep trying to make out its my home problem when it's clear they are at fault with their inability to port my old phone number over.

Re: Phone not receiving calls

I've done all the checks had an engineer call to check the hardware and connection. The consensus of opinion is that it's sky not being able to port my old phone number over completely. I have requested a new number and a completely new connection. They won't do it! Probably because Talk Talk has been sold to BT and they want them to sort my problem out.

@lenjenks

No need for a new thread so it's been merged into your original.

I've no idea why your new thread title was 'Talk Talk going bust'?

@lenjenks check to see if/what number has been assigned to your line, by dialling 17070.
