I am trying to have a community alarm installed for my partner who has a terminal illness. I still work so it would enable him to have peace of mind that if he fell at home that he could alert someone with having to get to his phone. (The alarm is on a landyard which is worn at all times when he's alone in the house). Dundee City Council has said they will not install the alarm without a landline. We haven't had a phone for years as we both have mobile phones. I see on my bill "Sky Talk line rental " is included for free. Does anyone know if this is a landline or if it goes through the satellite dish?

If you have a Sky broadband Hub with an illuminated Voice light on the front panel, a phone handset or the alarm system would need to be connected to the socket at the back of the Hub. Otherwise, it will need to be connected to your master phone socket. If you have a Hub connection, check with the Council that the alarm system is compatible with Sky's internet calling (VOIP) system.

Just for information, a Sky dish is one-way, for satellite television reception.
Two-way satellite service is a thing, but Sky has never offered it and their hardware doesn't support it.
