Phone failing to ring

New broadband with internet phone light green, however plugged into old phone to phone socket as instructed, rang house number on mobile and god ringing tone however phone attached to router did not ring

How new?

It's normal for the Sky Talk landline to not operate fully for 24+ hours after the broadband activation. Your post is unclear. Presumably you've got it plugged into the back of the hub and NOT a wall socket?

Sky upgraded today,  all leads entered as instructed all 4 lights green, phone plugged into back of router.   Called from mobile could hear ringing on the mobile but no ring on house phone

Then you need to leave it 24 hours as already advised.
