Master socket
Hi
is it possible to get another master socket installed into a hallway as elderly parents struggling to hear phone in bedroom.
when they switched from BT to sky, the socket was moved into the bedroom and away from the whole. I am wondering if we can put another socket into the hall so we can have a phone in the whole as well please advise

Re: Master socket
ISPs, telcos and Openreach no longer do any extension wiring past a master socket: that's now the remit of builders, electricians, local independent 'telephone engineers' or competent handypeople. Modern master sockets are specifically designed to demarcate the final point of the Openreach network and the end of their responsibility.
To get an existing master socket relocated it's necessary to book through the ISP/telco (and typically pay a fee)

Re: Master socket
You can only have one master socket. Sky might be able to relocate it back to the hall, if you wish. Extension sockets can be installed by the home owner - there are kits available from various hardware stores.
However the simplest solution might well be to invest in a cordless DECT phone (they're not particularly expensive) with one or more handsets as required. The base station plugs into the wall socket but the handset is portable so one might be enough.
