Landline not able to make/receive calls

My landline has a dial tone but I can't make or receive calls.

When someone rings me, they can't hear me but I can hear them. 

If I try to dial a number, it goes through the beeps of dialling a number, then straight back to dial tone.

See if you can run this line test to see if a fault is found outside of your property and if something is found you can book an engineer repair, ignore the fact it says it will test your broadband:
