Re: FAKE OR SCAM CALL
All too common, I'm afraid. Most of these calls originate from abroad.

Re: FAKE OR SCAM CALL
I'm not sure how you would find out court results from courts abroad to know that. Don't forget the number the call was from, if displayed, is likely to have been spoofed anyway. I also doubt Action Fraud will carry out any further investigation as all they do is record patterns of scams and if there is a line of enquiry likely to result in an arrest/conviction they would pass it to the UK police force best placed to deal with it. Technically you aren't classed as a victim of fraud as you didn't fall for it and are not out of pocket.

That's one of the reasons why they operate from abroad.

Typically law enforcement in the countries hosting such operations has rather more pressing priorities: in some cases the activities of shadow call centres may not even be illegal in that jurisdiction.
There was one publicised case where call centres in India were providing bogus paid-for 'support' on Microsoft products: the only prosecution against the British couple who were behind the scheme was for violation of copywrite through unauthorised use of Microsoft corporate branding in the on-screen 'pop-ups'.
