Crackling phone line

I renewed my contract with Sky for broadband & telephone last week. I received a call from Sky on Friday. I assume it was just a call to ask if I would like to sign up for any additinal services, however I was engaged on a call on another phone & so had to cut the call short. Ever since that call my landline phone, which had been working fine, will not display the name of any caller, displaying only "Incoming call" & now the line crackles so much I am neither able to make nor receive calls.

@CollinsCottage

To get you some help with this I have escalated your post to the Sky Messaging team who should be in touch with you sometime tomorrow morning regarding this via a blue/red chat bubble which will appear at this bottom of this page.

This link explains how this works so you will need to respond to the chat bubble at the bottom of the page when it appears:
https://community.sky.com/t5/Did-you-know/Escalating-a-post-to-a-Sky-expert/ba-p/3711147

When the chat bubble does appear you will have 48 hours to respond or it will be automatically closed. To start the conversation just type in it.

This isn't a live chat so replies may not be instant.

@andy123456

Sky will check the line and if an external fault is found they will pass it to Openreach to investigate and ultimately fix.

@andy123456

No need for a new thread. I've already replied to your first post. Have you another method of reporting this to Sky (mobile for example)?

Re: Crackling phone line

The line was checked & I was told that an external fault was found & that BT Openreach would be informed. I assume that they were as it is now resolved.

@andy123456

So did you end up reporting this to Sky as previously advised?

Re: Crackling phone line

Afternoon

I have had problems with the phone line -had some crackling on and off but the main annoyance is the ring tone is now a continuous ring not the normal "Brr-brr". Amazing how annoying this is !! Have done all the checks many many times, test socket, alternative corded phone, broadband check, status check all ad infinitum and now just want the phone line checked. Eventually found you can submit a request on an on-line form so thought might as well try that - got a response saying "network team will work on your case within 72 hours, a line test will be run which will disrupt your service for approx 3 minutes".  That's lovely but how do they let you know anything after that time ? Do i get a message, E-mail ,phone call (all highly unlikely I know but I live in hope !). In the "olden days" you could ring a number and they would check the line straight away, but this was in the days of just BT, telephone directories, yellow pages etc etc. Why has everything got so difficult ?? Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

@ilovelasvegas60 I suspect Sky will respond via a text message. If they haven't responded after 3 working days, we can ask Sky's messaging team to contact you here so that you can report it via a private online chat, if you wish. Alternatively you can call them on 150. Just disregard any prompts by the call answering IVR system and wait online silently. Eventually you'll be asked if you wish to speak to an adviser.

Re: Crackling phone line

Thank you for your advice. I will see what happens in the next few days as due to bank holiday that will take it to Thursday.
