HI....I have a really frustrating problem when I try to communicate with my 86yr mother. Sometimes she's not always near the phone and so dials 1471 to et the recent number. She gets the number and presses 3 for ring back - the phone rings at my [the callers] end, I answer but the line is dead. I thought it was something she was doing, but running the same call actually sitting next to her in her flat - same result. I've tried to get her to press the 'Calls' button but she just doesn't get it, her memory is getting very poor. So I'm stuck with her dialing 1471, but it doesn't work........can anybody help me here. Thank you.

Yes, not a problem.
I tried the same thing with my brother on his mobile phone the other day - three of us sitting in my mother's flat.
One of us calls mum - let it ring for a while to replicate mum not being able to get to the phone. Mum eventually gets to the phone, does 1471, presses 3 for ring back, our phone rings, we answer - dead line.
At first I thought mum was pressing some random button, but sitting there in front of her, she's not.
She has a BT 4500 cordless. I have the same land line at home. I've checked menu options, but couldn't find anything?

No her landline is Sky and my mobile is Vodaphone [I'm not sure what my brother's provider is].
However, If she presses 'Calls' on her BT 4500, gets the number of the last caller, then presses the green button to ring back, all is fine.
I've tried countless times [and will continue] to get her to abandon using 1471, but it's a hard slog t set up a new habit!
