What's the point in broadcasting an SD variant if everyone now receiving them must upgrade to a HD / Q box.

 

as for legacy platform, sure the first Q boxes didn't have UHD either? You had to have a silver box to get UHD?

Because a significant proportion of Sky subscribers don't pay the HD supplement

There were two main Q boxes at launch in February 2016: a UHD 2TB and an HD 1TB

an HD box or Q, yes, but there's no requirement to have the HD pack

Yes so the only real difference between the HD box and the early 1TB Q box is the EPG....

 

On my legacy pack I have 2TB hd boxes with 6TB of storage in the house. If I cancel Sky tomorrow for 6-8 months, I can just activate it again and get access back to all my previous recordings instantly.

 

I don't have to go down to the post office and send the stuff back and pay activation fees all over again if I subscribe again in the future....

 

I can also record 6 channels at once (granted in different rooms) and keep all the boxes in the attic with magic eyes.

 

the only thing I don't have is access to UHD content and now sky sport+

Incorrect. If you cancel Sky tomorrow you won't be able to re-subscribe to Sky+. Sky no longer offer Sky+/Sky+HD subscriptions.

I can't understand why it is not compatible with SkyGo.

I don't want another app from Sky on my phone, I'm struggling for space on my phone as it is with MySky, SkyGo, Skykids, Skynews.... it's just beyond ridiculous at this stage!

My aunt moved back into her house Saturday after a years absence following renovation works and her sky+hd box was reactivated.

@Andymc2000 the policy has been in place for quite a while 

 

only in very exceptional circumstances will sky consider a deviation from it 

 

sky will allow reactivation on accounts where the service has not been cancelled completely but if you cancel completely you can't re subscribe in normal circumstances
