Upgrade to HD
We are looking to upgrade my Mum's old Sky plus box to HD so she can access HD local news etc. I spoke to Sky earlier and they said if we upgrade to Sky Q all that is needed is the new box. There is no need to have a new dish or different wiring in the house. Can anyone confirm that is correct? Also Mum doesn't have broadband - is that a problem? She isn't bothered about Netflix or anything.

Re: Upgrade to HD
Sky Q upgrades require a new LNB on the arm of the dish and a new Sky Q box, the wires should not need replacing unless they are bad/degraded
You could get a Sky+HD (DRX895/DRX890) box off eBay etc... and just replace the box and upgrade to the full HD pack (optional)

Re: Upgrade to HD
@MC1 just to add that even without the HD pack your Mum would still receive the free to air channels which are broadcast in HD, e.g. BBC1, BBC2, ITV, Channel 4 and C5, with a Sky+HD box.

@MC1 I'm not sure that Sky would install Sky Q without any broadband in the house. The easier option, as mentioned above, would be to source a used Sky+HD box from eBay.
