Transmission problem.

Recently I have had a problem with downloaded programmes, Chicago Med, Chicago Fire,  Fire Country and The Equalizer.

In each case, a few minutes in, all these have a picture break up which clears after a minute or so. It is not weather related as it's happened over a number of weeks.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Downloaded programmes come via broadband so should not be affected by breaking up of the picture, picture breaking up should only occur with programmes broadcast via the satellite

Re: Transmission problem.

  • Sorry should have clarified that the programmes were recorded overnight, rather than downloaded.

I recorded Chicago Fire and didn't have such issues.

What are your Signal Strengths/Qualities? Take a look at the link below:

Re: Transmission problem.

I appreciate your reply. I record a few programmes overnight with no problems.

These 4 series are the only ones that seem to have an issue.

Thanks for your help, I guess that I'll have to contact Sky for an answer.

@Bluedolly we may be able to explain if you post your signal strengths, as @Annie+UK requested.

Re: Transmission problem.

My signal strengths are about 70% and 80% and my signal quality 90% in both cases.

They're fine. Can you tune to the channel where you're seeing the picture disturbances and take another look at the signal strengths?

Re: Transmission problem.

Both strengths and quality are the same as reported earlier.

Was there bad weather during the time of recording, the weather between the dish and the satellite is what matters so may not have been very local to you

Re: Transmission problem.

Not that I remember. The episodes have been recorded over many weeks so I doubt weather conditions would have had any effect.

I guess you are getting intermittent drop in signal power that can be caused by many factors

I agree with @Annie+UK. It's not a transmission problem as it would cause the same problem for every Sky TV subscriber, and clearly it's not.

You could call Sky, but beware they'll almost certainly tell you you need to upgrade to Sky Q!
