@David70

You can't now pair a viewing card to another Sky+ box that it wasn't paired to at the end of October 2024. Sky+, being a legacy package, is no longer supported by Sky.

Still call Sky to discuss your options moving forward which will be upgrading to Sky Q or moving to Glass / Steam to continue to view Sky content through a Sky subscription.

What you have been told is correct because from now on you will have to upgrade to either a Sky Q box or to Sky Stream or Glass as is not possible to use a viewing card in a different Sky+ box.

Re: Transferring viewing card

Thanks, I purchased a refurbished Sky+HD box, the company then told me that Sky will not transfer the old viewing card to the new box, this is since OCT 2024, meaing that I could only see freeview.

David

That's correct. Just for completeness, you won't be able to record either.

And you will not be able to pause or rewind either.

Sky+ hasn't had software updates for ages.

No. It's a policy decision by Sky, I'm afraid, acknowledging that Sky+ is now a legacy, largely unsupported platform.
