TV remote

Two TVs in the house work from the same Sky plus box.  One sees the remote, the other one doesn't.  Tried swapping the remotes, nothing changes.

Ideas?

How are the 2 tvs connected to your Sky box? Sounds like it might be a magic eye failure,

Tried swapping the cables to the eye and no difference.

To be able to help further, we'll need some detail about your Sky box / TVs setup.

Re: TV remote

Sky box is in the loft.  Signal via Cat6 to two TVs.  One works with either remote, one doesn't work with either remote.

Anything else I can say that would help?

How are the magic eyes connected?

Re: TV remote

Hi

They plug into a silver box which is connected by cable to the back of the TV.  Sorry, I'm not very techy!

I'm afraid I can't gain a decent understanding of your setup from the information you've been able to give us. It's clearly not a standard magic eye setup and that makes it hard to troubleshoot. Solely from a logical perspective I think there are three possibilities:

1. Defective tv (unlikely)

2. Failed magic eye

3. Failed silver box (no idea what it is!)

Is the power LED lit in the magic eye? If so, I'd replace it, as a first step.

@Mark39 That suggests it's not the usual RF distribution, but HDMI-over-ethernet cable, possibly with some kind of matrix device at the head end.  The 'silver box' is probably the local ethernet cable-to-HDMI converter.

Yes, that was my assumption.
