Software update Sky+HD box

Hi folks

To fix a particular problem, Discovery UK have suggested I do this software update procedure:-

My question: will this delete all my recorded shows?

It will not delete anything also it will only do a glorified Off and On of the box as updating the software unless out of date will not do anything to the software

Latest version is: R024.092.11.00P

That cannot resolve Discovery+ issues because Sky+ doesn't host apps.

It's extremely unlikely to do anything at all: as @Annie+UK indicates there haven't been any software updates for Sky+ in several years.

Re: Software update Sky+HD box

Hi folks - forgive my delayed repy [I am the orignal poster]

I will explain the problem in a moment [see "THE PROBLEM" below), which I discussed [online chat] with Sky who suggsted I perform a siftware update by doing this:-

  1. Press the standby button on the top of your Sky remote.
  2. Switch off and unplug your Sky box and any other connected devices, like your TV, at the mains.
  3. Press and hold the backup button on your Sky box.
  4. Whilst holding the backup button, switch your Sky box back on at the mains.
  5. Continue to hold the backup button down for up to 30 seconds, or until you see all four lights on the front panel of the box flash on. Then you can release.
  6. Your box is now in download mode. It will take between 5-10 minutes to download the software. Do not turn off your Sky box or try to watch Sky TV during this time."

I feared this might delete recordings, hence, this thread before I take any action.

Now, thanks to this thread, I fear the above steps will be a waste of time to fix the problem I have, especially as my S/W is already R024.092.11.00P.

THE PROBLEM:

This one example of MANY such examples of how my Sky+HD TV guide lists Discovery On Demand shows. I will base this one example on "Building Off the Grid" where one such example episode shows its nomenclature both as "S11 ep10" and "(S07,E09)".

There are many Discovery and NatGeo shows where this seemingly mismatched dual mis-matched nomenclature occurs.

Sky suggested a Software Update.

So, folks, have any of you come across this and found a fix?

Again, this is one examle of MANY.

Thanks.
