i dont know what is rubbish, all i know, was if i still had my hd box, they would renew my subscription

If you still had an active Sky account paying for subscription television then it could be 'renewed' (put on another minimum term) : possession of a box is not the key factor.
That's what 'renewal' means in this context.
A lapsed subscription (no payments made for several months or longer) isn't a subscription, and could only be replaced by a new subscription, which they won't do for Sky+

Anyway im leaning towards stream as it seems less hassle
