Sky + box stuck on 4:3 aspect although in settings 16:9 is selected

Cannot get sky + box to display 16:9 ratio even though in settings/ picture it is selected.

Is everything in 4:3 or just older programmes?

Is you TV set to the correct aspect ratio?

Yeah, TV aspect fine but all sky channels are 4:3. When I first select a sky  channel, for like 2 seconds it is 16:9 but then the black bars appear at the sides.

If you are connecting to your TV via HDMI then in the Sky setting try turning OFF HDMI Control

Yep @Annie+UK connection is HDMI (1) HDMI (2) is my fire stick which is displaying in 16:9. Thanks for your suggestions.
