Sky box obsolete charged to replace it

My husband worked for Sky but passed away. After the storm earlier this year and multiple hour long phone calls which nearly ended in being disconnected it started to work but never 100%.After last week's storm I had no satellite signal and when eventually I got to speak to someone who informed me back my sky box was so old and engineer couldn't work on it and would need to be replaced. This discussion was had earlier in the year as mentioned.I was then informed that I would have to pay for the box to be updated €155 is this correct? I paid this as I am at my whits end

@Murphy14 I don't know where the 155 euros would have come from. You don't pay for a Sky Q box (the current satellite based service) as it's loaned to you, and installation is normally free of charge.

I'd be inclined to call back and simply say you want to upgrade to Sky Q.

Edited to add:

You might find this post useful authored by my Superuser colleague @nigea99, which discusses the differences between Sky+ and Sky Q.

Re: Sky box obsolete charged to replace it

I understand but I was on the phone for 1 hr 40 mins on Tuesday and the personnel was insistent on me having to pay it. Only for I gave him my mobile number that he rang me back because the call died after 1hr 20 so frustrating

@Murphy14 I don't see an alternative to contacting Sky again,  I'm afraid. I'd not mention your previous conversation with them.

If they quote the same figure, challenge them on what it's for, bearing in mind the box is loaned and installation should be free.
