Our Sky TV has dropped a swathe of channels, including all mainstream BBC channels. Is this a problem at Sky's end, and if so how soon will it be fixed? If it's our our end, how do we fix it.

Thanks - they're just not appearing in the list of channels: no error messages.
It's not just BBC - many of the sports channels have gone too.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@GDRO If you have an older sd only box the following applies
Please note: Some media outlets have been incorrectly stating that Sky+HD customers will also be affected by the SD channel changes
Around about August 2024 ALL Sky SD owned channels are to change their delivery protocol to DVB-S2 that only the HD boxes can process, so ALL older SD only boxes will not be able to output these channels (if your sky box can receive Channel 5 HD then you need do nothing as your box will not need replacing)
If your box is SD only and you want to keep receiving these channels you can either replace your incompatible boxes with a second hand Sky+HD box (One of the following models will suffice: DRX890 , DRX890W , DRX890WL , DRX895 , DRX895W , DRX895WL) or upgrade to a newer Sky service (Sky Q / Sky Glass / Sky Stream)

All BBC channels on affected boxes started getting messages plastered on them last year: did those not appear?

Yes there were large banners on the BBC SD channels that were hard to miss.
Anyone still using an SD box should really upgrade (there's no cost), or you will gradually lose more and more channels.

Please note these differnt boxes have different out puts - My RS232 does not have audio outs where as my older one has - Pleanty on ebay but check the back for outputs.
