My Sky HD box is making a quiet whirring noise and won't switch on
I have rebooted it with no effect
Any ideas why and how to fix it ?

The Sky box has an AMBER light on it - and it doesn't go out
The remote is fine - the red light flashes on the remote when buttons are pushed
Tried the system update
Holding back up button on remote for 30 secs - but led on remote goes out after 10 secs - with NO 4* leds illuminating on box
So it wont go in to download mode

Alternatively you could buy your own used box from ebay etc. Just choose a DRX890 or DRX895, as they're the most recent (albeit still 6+ years old).

I was actually surprised to see your post, because I thought you already had.
Chance of installation today? None, I should think.

My account is under PRIORITY Customers - I have emailed them to asks
Apparently - I can be upgraded for zero cost and the contract price will remain the same - except for a bedroom TV which will require a mini box ?
priced at £7.50 per month
Is that correct ?

What should I be looking for then ?
Also - I am unable to find the link to order Q myself - where is it ?
I can order Glass but not Q

It's a 1Tb
That's all that they have available

@Anonymous I'd check with them that the 1TB box is a 1TB UHD box as these are the newest and most up to date 1TB boxes.
Sky do, do 1TB non UHD boxes but these obviously cannot do UHD they can also only record 3 channels at the same time and although any box can have 4 mini boxes the non UHD box you can only use the main box and 1 mini at the same time

I have been told that it IS a 1Tb UHD box
Although we have only just upgraded to HD TV - It probably won't ever be used in UHD mode

Does anyone else think that over 2 weeks to get a Q upgrade from HD for a 21 year VIP Customer is an excessive wait ?
Considering Sky advertise as NEXT DAY set up for new Glass customers
I have to ask how long it would take for an engineer callout - if, once installed, I have a similar fault with Q ?

No. Sky Q requires installation by an engineer, and obviously they're not sitting around idle waiting for someone to buy Sky Q. Pretty sure two weeks at least would be required for engineer callouts for other household kit.
Sky Glass doesn't require an engineer.
