Sky+HD 2TB box – Cannot select Record

Hello All

 

I have a Sky+HD 2TB box that has just started experiencing a strange fault out of the blue when pressing Record.

 

Version Number: R024.092.11.00P
Model Number: 4f3180

 

Step by step fault:

 

  1. Go into the TV guide, highlight a programme and press Record button
  2. It gives me the option of Record Once or Record Series
  3. If I select ether option, nothing happens – the (R) icon does not appear at the beginning of the highlighted programme name
  4. If I try to record a different programme – same issue, nothing happens at all – it’s like the record option has been disabled

Actions I’ve tried to fix the fault:

 

  • Permanently delete all programmes from the deleted folder
  • Run a Planner Rebuild
  • Reboot the box by unplugging
  • Did a Forced Software Update

After doing all the actions above, the Record button worked once, but then failed to work when trying to record another programme. I then have to keep running a planner rebuild and rebooting the box to be able to record a programme, again and again.

 

Anyone heard or experienced this fault before?

You could try a Full System Reset, see Q15 in my Sky Plus FAQ

I'm trying to find out if there is anything I can do first before having to do the dreaded System Reset.

Bit the bullet this morning and did a System Reset - after taking photos of every screen.

 

So far the Record button is now working (it also seems to respond quicker) and will see how it goes. Luckily I have a spare 2TB box in reserve just in case.

Hi, If you still have the same box, we also have the same and back in July 2023 the same versions.

Model Number: 4f3180

But on checking today the details are now:

Version Number: R024.092.11.00P
Model Number: 4f3153 

BUT from what I noted down this model number was back in 2021

 

Wondered if your box changed version no?

The model number is gives the hardware details of the box and should never change
