Re: Sky 1080p
1080i is HD too. You would probably be hard pressed to tell the difference between 1080i and 1080p. But if you don't want to pay for the HD add-on, just cancel it

Re: Sky 1080p
Atchually there is a difference on action packed films and sports,
The picture blurs slightly on 1080i
1080p is the best of the 2,
And don't give me your crap about" Well you can always get rid of HD"
I asked a simple question

Re: Sky 1080p
And you got a simple answer, which, unlike yours, was courteous

Re: Sky 1080p
@Mark39 I asked a simple question , After your rude answer i googled it and their does appear to be a difference in picture quality if you are watching action Movies or Sports ,
Therefore your answer was not accurate and to say don't have HD was rude ,
I wasn't rude to start of with and asked a simple question

Re: Sky 1080p
Nothing rude in my reply. Don't you have Sky Q anyway? There's a 1080p output option on Sky Q boxes.
In reality whether you set 1080i or 1080p makes no significant difference. Sky broadcasts 1080i. TVs can only display 1080p.
If you set 1080i on your Sky box your tv upscales it to 1080p. If you set 1080p on Sky Q, your Sky box upscales it. The difference is in the quality of the upscaling. A high end TV will probably upscale better than the Sky box can.

Re: Sky 1080p
1080i is the global standard for 'HD' transmission over satellite and cable.
The relevant trade body 'European Information, Communications and Consumer Electronics Technology Industry Associations' (now 'DigitalEurope') chose to define 'HD' as 720p, 1080i and/or 1080p.

I'm sure someone will try: it's a moot point if such a data source isn't being broadcast.
Apparently a very small proportion of Freeview transmission might be (or has been) 1080p but you won't find any on Sky (including Glass/Stream), Freesat, Virgin, BT TV etc.
