SKY + H D BOX

Hi, I have a Sky HD+ box that is working well, however, I have purchased a new Smart TV for my kitchen which will not pick up the RF analogue signal from the box.

I am told by Currys that all new smart TVs do not pick up RF analogue signals. I cannot use a HDMI cable from my sky box as it is feeding the TV in my lounge

I have got my money back from Currys. 😀

Is there a smart TVs that acept RF analogue signals from a sky + HD box. Or is there another way around this problem.

I would like to have a 32 inch smart TV that will acept RF Analogue signals.

Please advise me of any options.

@Phill20  Most new TV's will only receive Digitla signal via the aerial (Freeview) Sky+boxes only output an analogue signa via RFl, unless your TV has a setting to search analogue signals you won't be able to use the RF output as before.

You could use an one in - two out HDMI splitter (not an HDMI switch)

 

Given it's Sky+ HD you don't have to worry about 4K or HDCP2 compatibility, and the distance limit on HD transmission is much more forgiving.

Just thought I'd let you know that I wanted a TV with analogue channel tuner in addition to the DVB tuner digital 10 years ago and even then it was a struggle to find any (although I did)

Over the years we have noted customers here buying ones which had it listed in the TV technical specs only to find that the firmware in the UK spec version would not allow access to it - needless to say as there are no broadcasts here using it there is no need for such hardware (or effort in firmware)

Is there a unit that I can fit onto the coax cable in my kitchen that is coming from my sky box that is providing a RF analogue signal   And the unit upgrade the signal to digital and send it to a smart tv via coax link to the tv coax socket.   
if so where can I get one and what is it called. Thanks Phill

@Phill20 you might want to look at HDMI to RF modulators, which in essence convert an HDMI signal into a format which can be passed over RF cable to a second tv and then picked up by the second TV's DVB-T (Freeview) tuner. Amazon have a range here.

Hi Mark. I am using the HDMI link from my Sky +H D box to provide the picture to my T V in my lounge.

When I have tried to use a HDMI splitter the Sky Box shuts down.

I need a link / converter that works via the coax cable to the new TV HDMI socket or to its coax aerial socket.

Is there a device that can achieve this.

Quality may not be that great on a new TV but as SKY HD has analogue video & audio outputs (Scart IIRC - I have not had one for many years) then you could look into Scart/to HDMI converters

@Phill20 have you tried an externally powered splitter? A splitter which derives its power from the HDMI sockets of the attached devices is unlikely to work.

The modulators I mentioned previously do indeed use the RF coax cable already in place to send the signal from your Sky box's HDMI socket to your TV's aerial socket. There are modulators available which have a built-in HDMI splitter so that you can use the lolcal TV as well as send a signal to the second TV via the modulator.

I'm guessing that's what the USB lead in the image I posted above (randomly acquired online) is for.  Presumably it's a potential use for the otherwise inexplicable USB port on Sky+ HD and Sky Q boxes...
