Replacement damagd Sky+Hd dish and lnb
I have recently been getting a blank screen with a 'Sky not getting a signal'.I reset the HD box to no avail. The dish has been up for over 10 yrs.I went up the ladders to check the connections and the dish has broken away from the bracket. An instant but tempory repair with afew tie wraps has solved the problem. On contacting Sky,I was told 'engineers only come out to Sky Q problems only'. So whoever said an engineer comes out and replaces a Hd dish for £65, may have had to much to drink. It doesn't exist anymore. I took a new contract at leased 6 mths ago for 2 yrs and paying £30 a month for a Hd +contract, also because i want to keep all the recorded content on the 500gb.harddrive.I was offered Sky Q at no extra charge, but then I would loose my recorded programs.Do I pay a local engineer between £150-£200 to replace the skydish and keep paying the £30 for the next 18mths or give notice on ending my contract and loose all the recorded content on the Hd box.Pity they don't have Sky+ Hd engineers anymore. I didn't see a notice on there website about this. All replies welcome.

Re: Replacement damagd Sky+Hd dish and lnb
@Robo64 Sky+ is increasingly obsolete, and now viewed by Sky as a legacy platform, hence the withdrawal of engineer support for it. How you proceed is really a decision for you, but bear in mind that all hard disks fail at some point and yours is now at least 10 years old. Bear in mind also that all satellite TV will almost certainly come to a complete stop by the end of the decade as the satellites in orbit run out of propulsion fuel.
In your position I think I might be inclined to stick with your temporary repair until it gives up and you're forced to do something else.
