Renewing Sky hd+ viewing contract.

My minimum term has ended and I'm currently paying a ridiculous £49/month on a month-by-month contract of Sky Signature and Sky HD.  I'm a long term Sky user (diamond) and would appreciate a heads up as to what's packages are available for me to keep my HD+ so I'm informed before I speak to Sky.

I'd like to keep the recording facility and the Signature channels, and don't need to add anything else.

I've read on another thread about Essentials which I assume is just Freesat channels plus recording.

The Ultimate package channels sound similar to what I have now, though without Netflix.

Do Sky offer a Netflix account for those of us who don't want Q?

Re: Renewing Sky hd+ viewing contract.

I phoned Sky and was offered a cheaper HD+ contract and also a broadband offer that was cheaper than my current one with a different provider.

The Retentions operative stated that 150mps b/band would be £19/month which I agreed to (or £18 for 100mbs).  The paperwork has come through and the price is £27.  This sort of lying **bleep** gets on my nerves especially as I'll now need to spend another hour on the phone and potentially cancelling the whole lot if the price doesn't change.

I thought Sky was better than this sort of tactic?

hi @Another+One

The SKY HD boxes can be used without subscription for watching the Freesat channels but without recording /playback.

SKY used to do a package to allow record/playback with the Freesat chanels but I don't think it is called Essentials, although it might be, however,  I do not think it is available any more.

(Essentials being  a SKY Q version &  similar named product Essntial TV being available on Glass & Stream which includes SKY Atlantic & Netflix)

Ultimate/Netflix  is not available for SKY HD customers partly because it requires initial activation on SKY Q/Glass/Stream  which cannot be done on a box without apps.

Re: Renewing Sky hd+ viewing contract.

Thanks @Nige for your reply which suggests to me that to stay with my HD+ box I either need to stump up £49/month or receive freesat channels only.

I'll give Sky a call later on.

There's no reason (afaik) why you can't negotiate a new minimum term contract for Sky Signature plus HD for less than £49 whilst keeping your Sky+HD Box. I did mine as recently as December.
