Problems HD box

I turn off my HD box before I go to bed, but next morning the orange light as disappeared  and the box is dead . I then unplug the device for about 10 minutes and it  regains power, but recently it's started to die during the day as well. The box is probably 10 years old,is it now time up??

It does sound like a power supply fault of some kind. If so, the box will need replacing. Bear in mind that the very newest Sky+HD boxes are 6-7 years old now. There are used boxes available on ebay - only opt for a DRX890 or DRX895 model as they're the most recent. Alternatively now might be the time to switch to Sky Q - you'll probably get a good deal from Sky for doing so.

Re: Problems HD box

Just died again watching Sky Sports, third time today.I enquired about Q about a year ago to see if data/ programmes from my + box could be transferred onto Q,but told it was impossible.Didnt want to lose stuff I recorded years ago, but all that will be lost now.                                           Thanks for the replies.

No, you can't transfer recordings,  unfortunately, but you can copy them in SD and in real time to DVD, if you have a recorder. Not ideal, I know, but at least you would still have them.
