Poor timing on recordings

I frequently set a sports event to record and watch later.  The recording finishes before the event far too frequently.   Tennis matches often go on longer than Sky set their timings for.  Premier League highlights are frequently 15 minutes later than the set recording time - with that one I know to record the next programme as well (but shouldn't have to).  India v Pakistan Women's cricket recording ended well before the end.   Surely I am not the only person who sets recordings to watch later?!?!   With old video tapes I would sometimes set the recording to last an hour longer than the expected time,  but with Sky I can't over ride their timing.

Much complained about over many years, but extremely unlikely to be fixed within the remaining lifespan of the satellite platforms, I'm afraid.

It's been six years since I had Sky+HD, but for live sports events that are likely to overrun (and let's face it that's virtually all live sports), can you not still schedule a 'manual recording' on that channel for after the epg set times just in case?

Re: Poor timing on recordings

It just needs someone at SKY to be more aware of event timings.   Not Rocket science!!

Who can we complain to?

They don't employ someone to sit and watch all the live sport and think "that's going to overrun we need to do x y and z".

I can't see any justification in submitting a complaint especially regarding a system that's no longer supported by Sky.

Re: Poor timing on recordings

But someone has to set up the timings in the first place!   All they need to do is add time to the scheduled event.

And when the event finishes on schedule customers will start complaining there was so many minutes of presenters talking waffle whilst trying to fill the gap.

The epg is for multiple platforms not just Sky+ so as many customers do, just record the following programme too and if the event finishes on time just delete the unnecessary recording.

Re: Poor timing on recordings

Recording the next programme (and on some occasions multiple later programmes) is what I do,  but it can be a problem when a tournament is taking place using series link.  Different programmes will follow on different days!
