First thing to try is restarting your Sky box. Switch off at the plug for 4 minutes.

It would have helped to say so. What else have you tried?

Some more things to try:

1. If you usually leave your tv in standby, turn both your Sky box AND your TV off at the plug for 5 minutes.

2. Try a different HDMI socket on your TV. Make sure both your tv and your Sky box are in standby when you do it

3. Disconnect the HDMI cable from both your tv and your Sky box. Swap the ends over and reconnect them. Again, make sure both are in standby when you do it.

4. Try a replacement HDMI cable.

If you still have the same problem, it looks like your Sky box has developed a fault and will need to be replaced.

Re: Picture disappeared

If it is the sky box that's got the fault how do I go about getting a new sky box .

Sky+ boxes are now obsolete and no longer manufactured. If you want to replace like for like then you'll need to look for a second hand one on eBay for example. Sky will not offer you a replacement but will likely try to get you to switch to Sky Q instead. It does more or less the same as Sky+ but has a few quirky differences which can annoy some customers.

Look for a DRX890 or a DRX895 model which are for sale quite cheaply on ebay etc. They're the most recent, albeit still 6-7 years old.  Alternatively Sky will most likely do you a good deal to switch to Sky Q.
