Part recorded/cancelled

I often record sport in the afternoon to watch in the evening. On Sunday I recorded Arsenal/Chelsea starting at 4pm (kick off 4.30). For some reason the recording stopped  at 1hr 55min with about half an hour of the game to go. On the front it said : Part recorded (1hr 55min) Cancelled 4pm: I didn't cancel the recording, there were no adverse weather conditions and I was watching our second tv in another room, so I don't think there was a power surge. I've done the turning the system off for a few minites and back on, just to re-boot it. Any thoughts as to why this happened?

I'm not sure what 'on the front' means, and I've not seen that error message before.

If the failed recording is still in your Planner,  highlight it and press i on your remote. Tell us what the error message displayed at the end of the programme synopsis says.

Sorry, when I said on the front, I meant the synopsis screen which has, as stated, the message : Part recorded (1hr 55min) Cancelled 4pm There is no error code. Many thanks.

To be clear the part recorded message is printed just under the synopsis.

Understood, thanks. I've not come across this before, sorry. I'm not sure whether it's normally displayed following a manual cancellation or a cancellation triggered remotely for some reason. You could try setting up a recording then manually cancelling it half way through (for example) to see what error message that invokes?

Or maybe someone else here will know the reason.

Sadly it has happened again today. I recoded the Solheim Cup from 12, which should have gone through to 6 but after 2hrs55min it stopped recording (5 to 3). I didn't notice until 4 when I saw the red light wasn't on. I quickly started the recording to catch the final two hours. The weird thing is that there is no mention of cancelation on the synopsis page it just says started at 12. Also the second recording which was started at 4 says started at 12! I'm worried this is a glich with my box.

Did you record from Main Event rather than SKy Golf ?

Main Event Switched to F1 just before 3pm

My fault. You are correct, I recorded on Main event (didn't give it a thought). Will have to pay more attention in future.

Yeah my fault I recorded Main Event didn't realise it cut to GP.

Easily done. 

Best never to record from Main event unless it is the only channel it is on - whatever  is shown on Main event is usually on the 'main' channel for that sport
