No support for Sky+

Just moved home, connected to existing dish but no signal detected. Customer Services advise no support available and refuse to send engineer to fix sky +. I do not want skyQ. Am still paying monthly subscription but cannot watch sky. Any advice please.

@pete0001 contact a local satellite engineer. Chances are you need the LNB replaced with one compatible with Sky+.

Thanks Mark, was rather hoping Sky would supply engineer as l am paying them but guess that's progress, cheers for taking time to reply, unlike Sky.

Yes you are paying them but even when Sky Plus was supported Sky charged extra for engineer callouts so the only difference is you'll need to pay a 3rd party rather than Sky

What you pay Sky for is the subscription so you can access their channels/content, after your initial contract period you become the owner of ALL the equipment

That's interesting Annie, during all the conversations they never mentioned l owned the equipment, more interested in selling me SkyQ. They even put the phone down twice when l persisted. Thanks for your help though.

Technically they would be renting you Sky Q, as you need to send this back when you stop subscribing 🙂

Re: No support for Sky+

Not keen on Sky Q as need extra boxes in other rooms at additional cost. Use tv links at mo which work fine.

@pete0001  Note that should any of your current boxes die and can't be resurrected that's it for those boxes as you can no longer replace them with second hand sky plus boxes, as since end of October 24 you can no longer pair viewing cards with replacement boxes the cards are permanently locked to the box it was last paired to end of October 24, any advice you see online to the contrary is now out of date

@pete0001 it might be helpful to know that the only cost of extra boxes for the other rooms would be a single Multiscreen subscription (unlike Sky+ where a separate Multiscreen subscription was required for each additional box).

Re: No support for Sky+

plus the £50 cost of a mini box, although normally the 1st mini box is free but any more are £50 each

Yes, you're quite right. I was forgetting the 'loan' charge for the box.

hi @pete0001

I know you are keen to keep with your existing SKY HD system as long as you can &  I suspect you may know this info but just in case, you may, also, wish to read some notes I have made for people considering switching from SKY +/HD to SKY Q

SKY +/HD to SKY Q

(note: SKY no longer supply Hybrid LNBs mentioned)
