No satellite signal on sky + or sky had boxes

Plugged my sky + box in and it says no satellite signal and box is initialising, then tried sky hd box and it says exactly the same, no signal and box is initialising, then plugged sky q box in and that works fine. Both sky + and sky hd boxes work fine, as I have tried both in a different room upstairs. 

Unfortunately I can't keep the sky q box so any help as to how I can get either the sky + or sky q box working would be much appreciated, as my dad is disabled and doesn't get out of the house so only has the tv to watch.

Unless you asked for a hybrid LNB (on the arm of the dish) when you had Sky Q installed, the 3ngineer will have fitted a standard Sky Q LNB, which isn't compatible with Sky+ boxes, hence the no satellite signal error.

my dad had sky + box plugged in and it all worked fine, then my sister plugged her sky q box in for a while, using the same cables that was plugged into the sky + box, but she has now moved and taken her sky q box with her, so I plugged my dads old box back in and I now get the message no signal and box initialising. No cabling was changed, also the room upstairs where both boxes do work, the cables are fed from the same dish.

@Gary1070 Your sisters Sky Q box wouldn't have worked without the LNB being changed, seemingly for a Hybrid LNB if older equipment still worked in the other rooms. So, although the cables are the same, they connect to different types of ports on the LNB which aren't compatible with the Sky + boxes.

You cannot plug a Sky+ box into the same cables your sister was using as this gives a wideband signal from the dish that Sky+ cannot use, these cables will only work for Sky Q or a wideband freesat box
