No help from Sky

My Sky+HD box started having problems on Sunday night at the hight of the storm. It was not getting a satellite signal. I rang sky on Wednesday and they told me my box was broken and I needed to go to Sky-Q. Instead I bought a refurbished Sky+HD box which arrived today. The same message is showing up about my box not getting a satellite signal. Sky will not send someone out to check my LND or see if my dish needs realyning. After 34 years I'm not leaving Sky because their customer service is not up to scratch. If I was to sign up to Sky-Q I'd have to wait a month for it to be fitted.

Please Note: Sky+ is now a legacy service that Sky are winding down
Sky no longer send out Engineers/Technicians for Sky+ customers or replace faulty boxes unless they already have Sky Protect Insurance with Domestic & General
If you don't have Sky Protect then you''ll need to either commission a local satellite installer, purchase a replacement second hand Sky+HD [DRX890 or DRX895 model] ( if the box is faulty ) or consider moving to Sky Q for satellite TV or Sky Glass/Stream for IPTV ( please do your research )

Re: No help from Sky

Thank you. I've already bought the replacement box. I'll have to get someone to look at my LNB and dish. If that doesn't work I'll have to got to Cirgub or settle for Freeview as I would have spent enough of my own money trying to fix the problem with no help from Sky. I'm not waiting a month for Sky-Q to be installed.

Re: No help from Sky

Sky have started reducing the number of Installation engineers in preparation for phasing out satellite system support. In areas that were serevely impacted by the storms there are longer than usual wait times.

Even if Sky had still been supporting Sky+ you would have be looking at  waiting a month for a visit🤔

Your dish being disrupted by a storm might be a clue as to why they are rather busy just now.

Re: No help from Sky

They still insist it's the box (both old and new) and never even gave me any details of people I could contact to check the LND or dish.  All the customer service people do is read from a script  and try to hard sell Sky Q.. they didn't even know we'd had a storm in this country.

You don't expect Sky to know every 3rd party satellite installer in the UK!!!!!!

@Troy_P

Sky agents can't be seen to be potentially endorsing a particular local satellite company. It should be quite easy to google for information on such local companies.

@Troy_P  Search for any CAI registered installer in your area, there will no doubt be plenty around.

I used one for a multisat dish setup and despite numerous storms over the last few years, the dish hasn't moved in the slightest.

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.

I don't expect anything from Sky after my last dealings with them.
