My mum has received a letter from you to upgrade her box to a sky box as you are stopping the software updates. Need to talk to someone about what the process is

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Gwenda1 your mum's Sky+ box hasn't received updates for more than 12 months. It won't stop working as a result, so there's no immediate need for her to switch to Sky Q if she's happy with her current box.
All hard drives fail, though, so it will eventually stop working at which point she will have to switch. Note also that there's no longer any engineer support for Sky+ equipment so in the event of a dish problem she will again need to switch.
