Moving from Sky+ to Sky Stream
We've recently had out broadband connection moved to a 73MBPS line so we're looking to move from our ancient Sky+ box to Sky Stream and have a few questions
1) Can you use Sky Stream on a non Sky broadband line
2) When you move from Sky+ to Sky Stream can you view recorded programs from the Sky+ hard drive
3) Is it possible to move from Sky+ to Sky Stream - following one of the order links gives a "As a Sky Q customer, you're already using one of our premium TV boxes"

Re: Moving from Sky+ to Sky Stream
@Kane1234567890 You will lose access to recordings completely from your sky + box
you can switch from plus to stream but can't revert back to plus in the event you aren't satisfied with stream you would have to go to Q
stream can be used on any isp
as an existing customers you will need to call to order

Yes

No. Your Sky+ subscription will be cancelled

You'll need to call as you're moving from Sky+
Do be sure to research Sky Stream thoroughly before you make a decision to switch. It's different from any other Sky tv platforms, most notably that it has no local recording capability and not all channels on Sky+ are included.

@Kane1234567890 See the link below for available channels as @Mark39 indicates the lineup between the two platforms are different so make sure all the channels you regularly watch are available

Re: Moving from Sky+ to Sky Stream
Appreciate the info folks - we've watched a few review videos on Stream including the different methods of "saving" over the record to hard drive method and the basic channels provided cover all the one's we use plus the free Netflix - the only real concern is the actual performance of the stream over our broadband - it SHOULD be fine but until you actually try it you can never be sure lol 🙂
Thanks again 👍

You're spot on. As you can see from the Sky Glass/Stream forum here problems with broadband, particularly if you're connecting over WiFi are common. An ethernet connection is always preferable if it's practical. I'm fortunate to have a stable, 60Mbps WiFi connection which works fine with both Sky Glass and Sky Stream.

Note that Netflix is not 'free' and Sky doesn't advertise it as being so: there's a cost as part of the Ultimate TV subscription, and then additional cost to move from Basic to Standard or Premium if desired.
It is, however, generally somewhat cheaper than subscribing directly with Netflix themselves.
Also be aware that Netflix through Sky doesn't offer the 'Extra Member' feature permitting use in a different household.

Re: Moving from Sky+ to Sky Stream
More accurate if I called it the included Netflix but I get the point 🙂
