Keeping sky+box ?
Have been a Sky VIP for a while but need to upgrade as the SKY + box has problems. TV works but can't use catchup or planner. Sky can't fix it, it's terminal. Happy to upgrade but want to keep the sky+ box as stuff on the hard disk I want to recover. It is possible to remove the hard disc and transfer files. However, it's impossible to speak to Sky. It's all web-based communication. Does anyone know what sky policy is on keeping old tech when upgrading

Re: Keeping sky+box ?
Technically transferring content is a breach of contract and should not be discussed on a forum operated by sky themselves
if you upgrade you lose access to all existing recordings even though the box is your property is yours to do as you please but the software:recordings remain the property of sky and right holders

Re: Keeping sky+box ?
You can remove the hard disk and copy the files, but it won't helpful, as the recordings are encrypted and require an active subscription to access.

Re: Keeping sky+box ?
As @SKY1992bf indicates, the hard drive is yours, but the content made up from the magnetic traces on it is not: that's there as a limited exemption from copyright to facilitate time-shifted viewing and isn't transferable (or rather it is as binary, but not in any viewable form)
