Just upgraded to sky q how do I watch the programs I have stored on my old Sky+ box ?

Hi

so we have just upgraded to a new Sky Q box. Which is fine. We kept our old Sky+ box because it has some recorded programmes that were important to us. I've connected the old box to our TV via a Scart connection which is working, however the old box when started up is frozen on 'initiallisng'.

Does anyone know why this is ? Obviously the old box is no longer connected to the dish but I would have expected to be able to still watch recorded content. Any suggestions from the forum ?

Many thanks

The default LNB on the dish for Sky Q is incompatible with Sky+, it has always been a requirement for sky satellite boxes to have a valid satellite signal to allow playback, this is a security feature

@Slipperman99

And in addition your Sky+ subscription has now ceased (replaced by the Q subscription) and so playback from that disk would no longer be available even with a satellite signal: it's a subscription-only feature of a service you are no longer paying for.
