Intermittent fault, getting black screen with no message

We have tried the usual switching off and back on, cleaning the card, checking cable connections etc but are still getting a black screen intermittantly with no message - we have had Sky for a number of years so can usually find the issue, plus my husband works with electrics so is not an idiot when it comes to connections etc. We're pretty certain we need a new box

Have you replaced the HDMI cable?

There are no 'new' Sky+ boxes: the last HD hardware was manufactured in 2015 before production shifted to Q.

Final model Sky+ HD boxes (DRX895WL / DRX890WL) are about £30 on eBay: Sky will just advise you to move to the Q platform, and no longer provides installation or maintenance services for Sky+ / Sky+ HD.

Sue, we are having the same issue with our sky HD box. We can see the planner and the tv listings. We even tried a spare box but it does the same. The signal strength is excellent. Pressing the info button shows the on screen information of what we should be seeing but the picture is just black with no sound. I assume it can't decode the picture signal. The days of using these old HD+ boxes are gone I think.
