Input 1 lock indicator “not locked”

I click services, settings, signal and in here I can see my signal strength and quality dropping in and out and the “input 1 lock indicator” flicks between “ok” and “not locked” which freezes the channel. I’ve tried all of the trouble shooting steps and nothing seems to fix this

@M.Irvine This would indicate an issue with your dish or cabling. Give Sky a call to arrange an engineer.

Re: Input 1 lock indicator “not locked”

Just had the same problem with our box, except the line 2 is not locking. I found out online its a software problem. Not sure how you cure it, but if you for example put on 101 (BBC 1) then you now press record and then change to say BBC 2 it locks line 2 and the picture is fine. Not ideal but a short term solution. Hopefully it works for you the same with line 1

@Wizard3882 Have you tried swapping the two cables over (switch off at the plug before doing so). Then see whether the problem changes to Input 2.

@ericpenguin Have you tried swapping over the two cables as described above? This would help identify whether the problem is with the box or the cable/dish/lnb.

Re: Input 1 lock indicator “not locked”

I'm having the same problem with input 2. I swapped the Leads around then input 1 goes off and Input 2 is ok. Do you know what's wrong with it

Re: Input 1 lock indicator “not locked”

The Sky engineer has just been to install Sky Q. I got a free upgrade to Sky Q. Been with Sky many years. The reason why it goes off is because the dish is not aligned, so messing with the signal. Also our Sky HD box was over 8yrs old.

Re: Input 1 lock indicator “not locked”

Thanks for reply

my sky's runs off A communal aerial. I've had the people out. to check that and they said there's nothing wrong with that and they said it might be the cables. I've got sky coming out next Thursday

thanks

Re: Input 1 lock indicator “not locked”

I'm having exactly this issue, input one not locked, but if I swap the cables the issue doesn't change, still says input one not locked...so what problem would that indicate? As someone mentions above, would that be a software issue? Thanks in advance

Re: Input 1 lock indicator “not locked”

Hi, mine was to do with the communal aerial. If you have a  communal aerial you need to contact them first because it's more than likely to do with your aerial Cable. If not you will need to get a Sky engineer to come out to check your sky cables. You will have to pay for an sky engineer to come out if you haven't got insurance. An sky engineer visit is about £45 per visit but you might be able to get an 6 months Insurance for £10 a month.  Hope you get your sky working soon.

Was the box turned off at the plug when you swapped the cables? If not, I'd try again after leaving the box turned off for at least 4 minutes.

Re: Input 1 lock indicator “not locked”

I had unplugged the box but didn't leave it for over 4 minutes...I have now tried on multiple occasions leaving the box unplugged for over 5 minutes between swapping the satellite input cables around and the issue remains on Input 1 and doesn't change. So what could that indicate, as the issue is getting worse and now affects every channel I try to watch! My Sky+HD box is over 8 years old and well out of any cover plans, and the dish is at least as old if not older as I think it was already on the building when I moved in! Would it be my box that is at fault?

Re: Input 1 lock indicator “not locked”

There's a problem with the cables either it's the cables that go in to your skybox or aerial box or if you run it through a communal aerial it could be there cables. The only why to find out is to get a engineer out. Firstly if you do have a communal aerial then phoned them up first if not then phone sky up for them to send an engineer. You will have to pay for a sky engineer if you haven't got Insurance.

Based on what you've posted, yes, I would say it's likely to be a box fault.
