Mum in laws sky TV box

Hello, is there anything I can do to help my mum in law report a faulty old sky TV box please? I live 300 hundred miles away and she is struggling making a report.

It's an old sky TV box, only has TV. She has no  Internet and no landline.

Many thanks Sky user myself

Older Sky box users now have to use 3rd party satellite installers to fix stuff unless the customer has Sky Protect Insurance from D&G

Sky will insist on upgrading to Sky Q or Sky Glass but both of these require broadband

@Tracey51

@Annie+UK is correct. Sky no longer send an engineer to Sky+ issues, which they'll tell your Mum if she calls them and they’ll advise her to upgrade to Sky Q or change to Sky Glass/Stream. If it’s a dish issue, unless she already has cover through Sky Protect (via Domestic and General) she will need to employ a local satellite engineer at her own expense to check the dish alignment.

@Tracey51 what problem is your mum in law having with the box? Is there a message on screen? Does the box not work at all / won't switch on?

If it's solely a problem with the box, you could buy a used replacement for her from the likes of ebay.

As others have indicated, Sky no longer support older systems so won't have the means to replace the box themselves or investigate dish problems.

Thank you all, I didn't even think of her needing the Internet for the new Sky boxes x

@Tracey51

Strictly speaking a main Q box will function for live television reception and recording/playback without internet.

Some Sky installers take it on themselves to refuse to install Q where they discover the user has no intention of having broadband, though.
