I cannot record a channel other than the one I’m watching

I had an issue with frequent loss of satellite signal . The ' chat' feature took me through setting changes, but when signal came back, though stable I now find I can only record the channel I'm watching.
if I begin watching a channel and set the tv too record a different channel channel, the recording starts but the screen changes from the channel I'm watching to the one I am recording.

i used to be able to record two channels simultaneously whilst watching one of them.

can anyone help.

I'm guessing the chat bot got you to change to 'Single Feed Mode' which allows your Sky box to work normally, but you can only record or watch one channel at a time

If you have two cables from the satellite dish, it looks like there's a good signal on only one of them. If that's the case, you'll need to get a local satellite installer to take a look at your setup.

Can I not go. Back into the settings and change back to see I can change the single feed . I might get back to where I was. Intermittent loss of one or two channels( but most working) and having the full record ability is preferable to what I have.

coukd it be a loose connection at the dish . Might it simply be that?

thanks for your reply so far

@Bubbafan yes, you can certainly turn off Single Feed Mode, though as you mention, the previous problems will return. Yes, the fault could be anywhere between the LNB (on the arm of the dish) and the cable connection at the Sky box end. Ypu could check that the box connections are secure after first turning off the box at the plug.

This sounds similar or the same as a issue I had.

I had fixed it but it's now come back.

is there a permanent fix to have 2 recordings & no channel break up or loss of the channel altogether.

i have 2 boxes in the house & only ever have issues with 1 box the 2nd works perfectly

@Axle27 the problem will be either with the LNB, one of the cables to the box affected, or the (less likely) box itself. The permanent fix necessary depends on where the fault is, hence the need for an engineer to take a look.

@Axle27  The advice given above is correct but if you don't have sky protect insurance you will have to source an independent engineer at your own expense to take a look and potentially fix, if they can't then your only option is to continue as you are or upgrade to one of sky's current tv products sky Q glass or stream

sky plus is now a legacy product which Sky no longer supports or maintains and once the hardware permanently breaks your only option to continue watching Sky tv services is to upgrade

Sky no longer provide engineer support for Sky+. It's very old hardware. If you upgrade to Sky Q the dish/cable issues will be fixed at no additional cost. Or you could switch to Sky Stream which doesn't rely on a satellite dish at all.
