HD box freezing

Our second box upstairs keeps freezing and won't allow us to playback recordings. I phoned Sky who seemed to fix the problem over the phone. However, after two weeks the problem has returned, any ideas? 
We have tried unplugging, running updates etc but no luck.

@Mr+PL Does it have problems playing live TV or just recordings?

If the latter, I'm guessing Sky talked you through a Planner Rebuild. If that didn't fix it, then you could try a Full System Reset (which would wipe the hard drive). 

If that didn't work then it would require a replacement box.

It happens during both, this morning I switched on live tv and it froze seconds in! If I change the Chanel it unfreezers but soon becomes frozen again.

@Mr+PL Still sounds like a hard drive issue, but live TV only uses the hard drive to allow Rewind of live TV to work afaik. So try turning that off.

Services > Options > Sky+ Set up then toggle through the Instant Rewind options to set it to OFF. Press Green to Save.

See if Live TV is any better. If it is, it proves that it's the hard drive failing.
