Downloading blocked for SD programmes

As of today I am being blocked from downloading SD programmes on Catch Up!

I have been into my settings and change the download type to SD Only, but it still will not work.

Is this something that has changed by Sky?

I have have no notification of the cathup service being wihdrawn!

Re: Downloading blocked for SD programmes

I think you have resolved the problem.

The programme I was trying to download was on U&Alibi. I tried to download several programmes at random, and they all failed, showing the same message to upgrade my sbscription to HD. This is despite there being an option to download an SD version of the programme.

I then tried other channels, and I was able to download programmes.

It is very misleading, if it says there is an SD version, then you expect it to download one. If the SD option was not in the dropdown list, then it would be obvious.

Many thanks for your help.

You're the only poster reporting it (so far), so I doubt it's the result of any sort of Sky policy. What's happening when you try to download from an SD channel? Can you download from the free to air SD and HD channels? What error message do you see?

Re: Downloading blocked for SD programmes

If I go to catchup, find the prohramme I wish to dowload, I am usually presented with th options to download in HD or SD. As I have SD I select SD, and the download usually starts. However, as of today, I get a message saying because I am trying to download in HD, which I am not, then I must upgrade my subscription. So, I went to options on my Sky+ box and changed the download type to "SD only", so now it should just download the SD option only.

But no, it just returns the same message that I cannot download an HD programme with my subscription and to contact Sky to upgrade.

It looks to me as though Sky have made a change to their system, so that only HD programmes can be downloaded.

@wightjohn I did see your reply before it was whipped away, presumably by one of Sky's often over-zealous automated filters. Your post will re-emerge once it has been reviewed.

Are you certain that there's an SD variant for the programmes you're trying to download? Many channels now only provide HD content.

Okay, tried that, but it is still referring me to upgrade my subscription.

Re: Downloading blocked for SD programmes

Yes, before I changed the type to SD Only, both were available.

I also tried another programme at random and received the same message.

I think you may have to give us some examples of programmes you can't download, so that other Community members can try as well.
