Current Sky TV Packages available for Sky+HD box customers?
Hello
I’m looking to review our Sky TV packages in order to see if we can get a better package and save some money, but it’s not proving that straight forward as the Sky website only lists TV packages for Sky Q box customers - Sky Essential TV and Sky Ultimate TV.
I’m still happy running with our Sky+HD 2TB box for the time being, but need to find out what Sky TV packages are available for it. I currently have:
- Sky Signature £40.50
- Sky Cinema £19.00
- Sky HD £9.00
- Sky 3D £0.00
All of which are incredibly more expensive per/month than the current Sky Essential and Ultimate packages.
Without first calling Sky, is anyone recently familiar with the current Sky TV package offerings available for non-Sky Q box customers i.e., those on a Sky+HD box?
Many thanks

The packages are pretty much what you've got.
The packages available on Sky Q and Sky+HD are the same, just with the exception that Sky+HD boxes can't run any of the Apps such as Netflix & Disney.
I'm not sure they'll let you have Essential without switching to Sky Q equipment.

@THX1138 Just to add, I'm in a similar position (I have Sports rather than Cinema). This week I was offered Signature, Sports and HD for £58 per month on my Sky+HD Box.

Re: Current Sky TV Packages available for Sky+HD box customers?
hi @THX1138
s @oj01 says the packages you have are pretty much all you can get & SKY Q is similar but with the addition of Netflix to signature to make Ultimate which SKY HD customers can't get due to lack of apps.
You may be able to get some reduction by commiting to a new 24 month contract
BTW Essential TV which is basically the FTA channels + Atalantic & Netfix is only available on Glass/Stream - this is different to the older similar named Essentials on SKY Q which is just the FTA channels allowing recording .
SKY +/HD allows access to watch FTA channels without a card (unlike Q which needs a subscription to keep the box & watch) but needs a subscription to be able to record/playback - I am sorry I can't remember what this is/was called and I am not sure if they offer it any more as they want to wind down SKY +HD
BTW I think SKY Q customers are no longer getting the discounts they used to and most offers are geared to Glass/Stream customers

That would be a Sky Plus subscription which as @nigea99 posted, allows you to record the FTA channels. I too am not sure it's still available.

Re: Current Sky TV Packages available for Sky+HD box customers?
Many thanks for everyone’s quick replies.
@nigea99 as you said, I may be able to get some reduction by committing to a new 24-month contract. I’ll give Sky a call.
For now, the Sky+HD box is practical for me as having to upgrade the current Sky LNB to a Sky Hybrid LNB in order to use a Sky Q box (and still feed my Manhattan Freesat box) is physically difficult due to the dish’s current location. I also loath the idea of having my TV signal provided over FTTP based on my very recent Openreach experience of having no broadband for 25 days! Not having all your eggs in one basket is certainly a good rule to live by, so for now using a Sky dish for TV is fundamental.

@THX1138 you probably already know but SKY no longer supply these & with a difficult location you would need tio get an independent installer to do this anyway & there is no guarantee that SKY would link a Q box to one
I am guessing you may have already seen this but in case you haven't - you may, also, wish to read some notes I have made for people considering switching from SKY +/HD to SKY Q
(BTW when those notes were written they did still ocassionally install Hybrid LNBs but alas no more)
which I am guessing will just re-confirm your wish to retain what you have, whilst it works

Hi,
Were you out of contract hence the good price, or did you say you wanted to cancel Sky ?
Thanks.

I'm within the last 30 days of my current contract.
Incidentally, I didn't accept the offer as it is more than I have been paying. I'm ringing again tomorrow in the hope of getting a better offer.

Re: Current Sky TV Packages available for Sky+HD box customers?
Phoned Sky again this morning and accepted an offer for Signature, Sports & HD at £56.50, which is pretty much the same as my old contract plus the April increase.
So offers are still out there for Sky+HD customers.
