You are not programming the remote properly 😞

 

  • Press TV on your Sky Remote
  • Hold down select and the red button at the same time until the red light at the top of your Sky remote flashes twice,
  • type 9 9 9 and press Select.

These instruction are given by the link Mark provided and should also be on a sticker on the battery door

999 just resets the remote. I wouldn't expect anything to happen, apart from the LED in the remote flashing twice to confirm success. It just means that any TV code you had previously programmed will be deleted.

 

Next step would be to re-programme your remote with the correct code for your TV.


I think they just typed 999 without following the full programming instructions thus the message "channel not available" 😞

I've tried all that has been suggested but still nothing is working what am I doing wrong?

Let's go back to basics. What are you trying to do? If you're trying to reset your remote, why? What problem are you having that makes a reset necessary?

All of the buttons work apart from the volume and mute

Does the LED in the remote flash when you press the volume up/down and mute buttons?

It's worth checking to be sure. If the buttons are faulty  the only thing that might help is to take the remote apart and clean the internals. @Annie+UK's FAQ explains how.

If your remote has worked OK before with your present tv, it might be. They're not very expensive.
