Can I dispose of my old sky+ box

I upgraded to sky q 2 years ago. Can I dispose of my old sky plus box please. The guy who came out to install sky Q wouldn't take it back but just want it gone but don't want to be charged if I throw it away?

Sky+ boxes are owned by the customer, don't throw it way, if it still works either sell it or give it away as the boxes are no longer manufactured

How do I dispose of my old Sky box.  The engineer would not take it after installing new SkyQ box.

You can send it back to Sky at their expense using the Royal Mail scheme described here:

https://www.sky.com/help/articles/recycle-sky-equipment 

Alternatively a local authority waste reception centre will typically have a small electronic equipment section.

Late model Sky+ HD boxes have some value on eBay.

Remember to remove any remaining Viewing Cards.
