Thank you for the link.
Here is a photo of the message as it appears multiple times a day and another showing the channel (ITV HD) . It happens on all channels and as another poster said even when browsing the menu and planner. It is a nuisance.

Yes, 'Signature' records. The point is Sky won't offer Signature without moving to Q.
I want to keep my second satellite feed so that it is easy for us to go to freesat recorder if we need to cancel Sky and still have tv in two rooms, as I watch a lot of football and things on the second set.
I'd observe Sky (together with TNT and Amazon) has a pretty much monopoly position on football: you won't find it on Freesat

We don't want Sky Q and I am absolutely fed up of hearing about it. We will stay with Sky as long as our HD boxes work but after that we will be leaving. I don't have sky sports, it is too expensive, so only watch free to air football. I do watch a lot of documentaries on our second set, and a few dramas that only I like, but most of those are either free ro air or I can buy on dvd cheaper than what sky costs. What I would most miss about sky is the ability to record, but freesat boxes do that.
I am really annoyed with Sky for sending this message all the time and it is not good for customer relations as it just makes me want to pick up the phone and cancel rather than upgrade.

Thank you for verifying that this message does indeed appear on the HD channels. I second-guessed myself as I realised I couldn't verify what channels it was showing up on, but you proved the HD channels are included. And I agree about SkyQ - I am not interested and will end my Sky subscription if Sky+HD becomes obsolete. Over the years I've had to pay more for less and it's not worth it.
@Annie+UK This might also be why you cannot record on your Sky+, give Sky a call and get them to activate the Sky+ features and tell them to update you account to reflect your HD box.
It turns out I can indeed record on the Sky+HD hard drive! I tried it before and it didn't work, but now it does!
@oj01 You could live record the HD version to the DVD or record either version to the Sky box and then transfer it to DVD.
Since I discovered I can indeed record to the Sky box, can you tell me how to transfer saved recordings from the box to DVD? I thought it wasn't possible.

You can only record to DVD in 'real-time' and you do it in the same way as you previously recorded live tv to DVD.
When playing back a recording from the Sky box through your DVD recorder it should record whatever is on screen.
* There is a menu option that does exactly the same thing. Within the Planner Recordings page, press Left once and the coloured button description at the bottom of the page should change. I think it's Green that will now say Copy.

Thank so much! I'm going to try that 😁
